Drug Abuse Intervention System - DAISY for short. DAISY Investigations are designed for family members who are actively searching for answers and alternate solutions to address suspected drug abuse issues by one or more family members, spouse or close friend(s).

DAISY Investigations are custom designed around you, your family and the Drug Abusers needs, circumstances and goals. DAISY Investigations work like this:

1. First determine if a drug abuse problem exists. Expose it for what it is - a Medical Condition that can be cured or curtailed if given the right approach, medication and treatment.


2. Secondly, determine if the DAISY Investigation will work for the client and the Drug Abuser.


3. Thirdly, secure absolute cooperation between family members, spouse (girlfriend/boyfriend) and friend(s) to address the drug abuse issues with the Drug Abuser. Present a united front and enlist those that have acted in the past as "enablers" to no longer "enable" the Drug Abuser to mistreat his or her family by cheating or stealing money from them to support the drug habit. Polaris Investigation can assist in preparing the family for the intervention, by educating family members with the nature of drug abuse and the drug trade, as well as the consequences of both.


4. Fourth, Polaris Investigation will then conduct a thorough investigation into the drug related activities of the Drug Abuser. A professional lifestyle assessment will be documented by the investigator. Investigators will also search for common avenues and techniques that the Drug Abuser uses to satisfy their drug habit(s); including but not limited to, purchasing drugs from friends, family members, co-workers or drug dealers. It is important that these sources of drugs be identified and separated from the Drug Abuser.


5. Fifth, a Family/Investigator Intervention Session designed to address the Drug Abuse issues and direct the Drug Abuser to a certified pre-determined drug abuse/prevention program that will allow the Drug Abuser a chance to recover and remain sober. Some of these treatment centers are free; others are more expensive and personal and require a firm financial plan that may include health insurance and/or a payment plan to the medical facility.

WHY POLARIS INVESTIGATION?

As a Federal Narcotics Agent, I sometimes arrested individuals that were more Drug Abusers than Drug Traffickers. These individuals were often viewed and treated by Drug Traffickers as "expendable" and of no real importance or value to the Drug Trafficking Organization other than purchasing low grade narcotics and occasionally transporting drugs from one location to another.

However, the law looks as all these individuals as Drug Traffickers, with little distinction between the kilogram trafficker and the user.

During the 1980’s, in an attempt to stamp out the drug trade from abroad and domestically, congress approved several federal laws that targeted and punished Criminal Organizations though RICO Drug Laws that implicated entire organizations with a wide brush. In short what ever the drug trafficker was charged with - the drug user could be charged with since they were all involved in the same criminal conspiracy. Even if that individual was not directly involved with that particular crime.

Conspiracy alone carries a 20 year prison sentence, not to mention the array of other criminal charges that can be added to one’s indictment.
